We are looking for individuals to volunteer their time to be a camp counselor for MDA’s Summer Camp in Antioch, TN (about 20 mins outside of Nashville) from 5/26/-6/01. We need male counselors! We only have 8 registered to date. By being a camp counselor you will be responsible for the well-being of one of our MDA kids. Our camp provides a full camping experience for kiddos ages 8-17 who have a form of Muscular Dystrophy (Duchenne, Beckers, SMA, etc.). This camp allows these kids to do things they can’t do ANYWHERE else; it allows them to live unlimited. We modify all activities so no one is left behind and no one is told no. We have zip-lining, horseback riding, cooking, fishing, swimming and so much more. That’s where you come in! Muscular Dystrophy weakens their muscles so they are not as strong as other kids and tire easily. We need volunteers to be paired up with campers to help them participate, give encouragement and help them with their daily needs (eating, dressing, etc). This is their one chance to be away from Mom & Dad and gain a sense of independence. It is truly a camp like no other. Volunteers will gain 168 volunteer hours just by participating in this multi-day camp.
